High Fibre Muesli

This muesli was 'prescribed' to my husband. Half a cup a day with milk and fruit would 'fix him up' according to the doctor - and it did. Best of all it doesn't have all the added sugar that is put in the mass produced varieties.

Ingredients

2 cups flaked barley
2 cups rolled rye
2 cups rolled oats
1 cup dried fruit (Angus Park fruit medley is perfect for this)
1/2 cup bran flakes
1/2 cup unprocessed bran
1/2 cup wheatgerm
1/2 cup nut pieces (slivered almonds or chopped pecans for the sweet, or chopped walnuts for the not so sweet)
1/2 cup linseed
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup sunflower seeds

Method

  1. Mix all ingredients in a large air tight container (with a lid) that you intend to store the muesli in. Serve half a cup of muesli with fresh fruit, yoghurt and a dash of milk for a breakfast that will last the whole morning.
  2. Store in the airtight container in the dark.
